The greatest recognition of Marialy Pacheco’s qualities was winning the Montreux Jazzfestival Solo Piano Competition 2012. She is the first woman to win this prize in the competition’s 15-year history. She is also the only female pianist among the star Cuban pianists currently in vogue, such as Chucho Valdés, Roberto Fonseca, Omar Sosa and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
