BIOGRAPHY

Now firmly established on the international jazz scene, EYM Trio continues to explore acoustic jazz with a variable-geometry concept.

Elie Dufour (piano), Marc Michel (drums) and Yann Phayphet (double bass) have formed the core of the group since 2011. They travel the world both physically, through touring, and musically, through the musicians, they invite.

After Genesi (2013), their first album as a trio, they invited Egyptian oudist Mohamed Abozekry and Gypsy accordionist Marian Badoï to record the album Khamsin three years later. In 2018, they moved to India and composed a third album, Sādhana, on which they invited singer Mirande Shah (Bombay) and guitarist Gilad Hekselman (New York). In 2023, Bangalore is released, an album recorded in a single take with the incredible flautist and singer Varijashree Venugopal. Their next album, Casablanca, will be released on May 17, 2024.

The three musicians play with elements of musical language from the four corners of the globe, all in innovative metrics that leave plenty of room for freedom of interpretation. The trio creates a captivating, amusing and surprising universe that lightly invites you to travel and let go.
